NORTH SHORE AREA PICKLEBALLERS AND NOSH DELIVERS FOOD BANK
RALLY TO FEED THOSE IN NEED
October 29 Tournament Fundraiser at Glen Cove’s Stanco Park
Expected to Raise Record Amount
Glen Cove, NY – America’s hottest sport and one of the North Shore’s most worthwhile charities will rally at Glen Cove’s Stanco Park on Saturday, October 29, 2022 as area pickleballers stage a round-robin tournament to raise thousands of dollars for NOSH Delivers, one of the region’s most vital food banks.
Amateur North Shore pickleballers organizing the event, a number of whom serve as NOSH volunteers, should well exceed what they raised for the food bank at last year’s inaugural tournament. Come October 29, it’ll be game on from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for nearly 100 entrants from their 20s to their 80s who are each donating at least $30 to play. Spectators are welcome – as are their monetary donations during the day -- and the No Good Burger food truck will be there from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the purchase of snacks and lunch during the noon break.
To date, nearly four dozen generous, community-minded area businesses, organizations and professional pickleball suppliers have gone above and beyond to donate cash, as well as merchandise, services, experiences and gift cards to be distributed primarily through raffle tickets sold at the event. They range from a wine tasting for 10 to an array of top-grade pickleball paddles to a slew of gift certificates and other merchandise, all of which should generate substantial additional funding for NOSH Delivers.
The City of Glen Cove – recently named the only New York venue among Money Magazine’s Top 50 Places to Live in the U.S. -- has shown its strong support by granting the group reserved courts for the day. The rain date for the event is Sunday, October 30. Stanco Park is located on Lattingtown Road, adjacent to the Glen Cove Municipal Golf Course.
“Pickleball is all about sportsmanship, friendship and camaraderie,” says Ron Menzel, one of the five volunteer organizers of this tournament, “so it’s natural that – beyond the sheer fun of the game – we would want to donate our time and money to NOSH Delivers, a volunteer group so dedicated to feeding our neighbors in need. We’re also overwhelmed by the generosity of merchants and other organizations who have truly stepped up to support our efforts. We encourage all to patronize these businesses that give so much back to the community.”
“We are so grateful for the support of our pickleball friends and area businesses,” adds NOSH Delivers Director of Operations Linda Eastman. “Not only do they do so much for our clients through their extraordinary fundraising; a number of them are also our volunteers, picking up, packing and delivering much-needed food bags each week. The real winners of the tournament will be our clients in need. This is a wonderful example of how we can all unite to make our communities stronger.”

ABOUT NOSH Delivers
NOSH Delivers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization currently based at 32 School Street (back entrance) in Glen Cove, was created on March 15, 2020 by a group of concerned North Shore neighbors to safely deliver meals to the homes of families in need of food assistance because of the COVID pandemic. Areas served beyond Glen Cove have included Bayville, Glen Head, Lattingtown, Locust Valley, Roslyn and Sea Cliff. At the height of the pandemic, NOSH Delivers was bringing food to more than 500 families each week. “NOSH bags” are emergency meal kits containing the ingredients to prepare two meals for a family of four, with larger families receiving additional bags. NOSH’s volunteer dietician assesses bag contents to make sure the ingredients provide proper, balanced nutrition for children and adults.
